I am a partner with Kinetic Ventures, an early stage technology investor with offices in Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA.

I have been meditating for over 10 years and met Jonathan by participating in his Year of Living Mindfully Program. I enjoyed that so much that I organized a program with Jonathan for DC area CEOs called Transformational Journey that is entering its 8th year. Four years ago we developed a yearlong program for the YPO Gold US Capital Chapter and Washington, DC-Baltimore Chapters. Since that time we have delivered numerous programs to YPO Chapters and network groups.

For six years I was President of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, one of the largest meditation communities in the country. I am a graduate of a two year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training led by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. I also serve on the board of the Hoffman Institute, an organization dedicated to helping people achieve transformational change.

My wife Carrington and I have been married for 29 years and have three college-age children. I am a graduate of the Harvard Business School and Roanoke College, where I am a former member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Listen here for an interview between Jake and one of the leading teachers from the Hoffman Institute on their podcast, Love’s Everyday Radius.

I am a teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington and a faculty member and former president of Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.

I stumbled into learning meditation when I was 15 and knew I'd be doing some form of this for the rest of my life. I've had a steady practice ever since.

After grad school and a stint as a professor at the University of Niamey in Niger, West Africa through the Peace Corps, I had an ill-fated attempt at a solo bicycle crossing across the Sahara.

That fiasco landed me in an ashram where I lived a monastic life for a few decades, studying with world-renowned teachers. After serving as President of Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, I met my wife, Tara Brach, and moved to the DC area.

I offer a weekly meditation class and podcast and as well, lead a wide variety of trainings, including classical meditation retreats.

I love working with people who have real-world responsibilities and put the practice into action. I have delivered trainings for organizations such as the World Bank, the US Senate, the US House of Representatives and for the DC Superior Court Justices.
